WEIRD. WONDERFUL. ORIGINAL.
If you're just looking for a taste, take a look at my video editing & graphics reel, but keep in mind there is more bellow with an even wider range of styles for you to browse if you like what you see. No matter what aesthetic you are hoping to achieve with your next video project I can pull it off!
What's New?
Here's a taste of some of my most recent work.
22 Racing Series Steam Launch Trailer
This is my second time working with the great people at GOATi Entertainment, I did all of the editing, sound design and Mograph work on this one with the guidance of their incredibly talented art department. 22RS is a fast paced futuristic RTS racer. Check it out on Steam now.
Bumpy 100 Days videos
This is my second in this particular series of videos for the folks over at the Bumpy YouTube Channel. I used their game mod assets to create this story for their channel based on a script provided by their team. I did all of the sound design and everything else that you see in this video. Time consuming but a rewarding outcome!
Phantasma Gaming Blockchain Overview
This video was a blast to create. I was given creative freedom to write the script, set the tone, and make some really cool animations for this one. I also did some great Voice Over work on this one that I think showcases my range rather nicely.
All Out Teaser Trailer
Here's another recent game trailer I did for the upcoming game All Out. Rather simple trailer but a fun one.
SECTOR ONE INTRO
This is the intro to a live stream actual play podcast. It was created using After Effects, and Photoshop almost entirely from still images provided to me site unseen from the client, with the exception of the archival nasa footage at the beginning, a planet fly by done with Video Copilot plugins, and of course the final tital which is done with a variety of Red Giant Plugins. The VO was created using Amazon's Alexa voice service and some sound design in Adobe Audition as well as Reaper.
kINCARDINE AFTER DARK
This video was created for the municipality of Kincardine in collaboration with videographer Tom Church. The most remarkable part of this video (aside from Tom's incredible shots) is the motion tracking required to pull off a few of these shots. Luckily, after running the tracks dozens of times I was able to create smooth 3D titles within the shots using Video Copilots Element 3D plugin.
WICKED CITY KINDRED: CHAPTER TWO
One of my favourite people to collaborate with, my good friend Uncle Tony took his Chi-town Vamps back in time to Victorian England and needed a brand new intro. So for chapter two I took the familiar tone, music, and pacing from the first season's intro, and took it back in time with some authentic period newspapers and real vintage anatomy drawings that look quite gruesome to create something more victorian and macabre. I used some fun tools on this one. The film grain in this was done with FilmConvert Nitrate, the blood drops were from Triune Digital's Free Blood Stock Assets pack, and the main paintings used in this were sourced by Uncle Tony and then set in motion using Photoshop, and After Effects.
CAHOOTS YEAR IN REVIEW
My first attempt at creating the VHS look from scratch for this video turned into a more stylized look that was evocative of the VHS look. The other remarkable part of this project was how much I mixed in my own effects to the music bed to make the dialogue and other elements blend seamlessly with the song. This video holds a special place in my portfolio because it is most indicative of the style I have developed over my years of editing and the type of content I like to stay up late nights perfecting.
HOW TO BE A RADIO DJ: IN 15 SECONDS
Another Cahoots Video, I enjoyed editing this video because Phil does all of the work by just being charming. All I had to do was complement his already incredible timing, by editing to highlight Phil's delivery. Very fun shoot a video I still enjoy watching years later. Titles in this video were done by the wonderful and talented Matt Bacon.
PROFILE MEDICAL COSMETICS
Working with Gem Webb Internet Marketing and Tom Church We created this video for the Owen Sound based Profile Medical Cosmetics as well as three other videos showing off their services. I worked on site as director for this production as well as all of the post production with 4k footage shot in a flat profile. I used Davinci Resolve to do the colour matching between the 3 different Panasonic DSLRs used for this shoot.
BOOTS & BREWS MUSIC FESTIVAL
The incredible Dave Schefter of Back Porch Events tasked me with shooting, editing, and voicing this ad for the annual Boots and Brews Music Festival in Hanover Ontario. This shows off some drone photography, talking head shots, and some great crowd shots, all shot on a Canon Vixia Camcorder and a DJI Mavic Pro drone.
PETER MCKINNON EDITOR COMPETITION
Although it may be a little silly - I'm a little silly - and if that works for you, you are my dream client. There are some shots in this reel that I still enjoy returning to. The compositing for the evil version of myself although rough has some great moments. That scene and the accidental teleportation of my own clothes show off more of my personal style than almost all of my client work put together, so here it is in my portfolio.
KICKING MYSELF IN THE HEAD
Wow... you're still here eh? Well then, enjoy this hour long loop of me kicking myself in the head. Complete with looping music and sound design. What can I say? COVID-19 has effected us all in strange ways. Sometimes you spend your afternoon making things like this.
I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D MAKE IT THIS FAR.
That's why I chose to hide my favourite buttons here. Well... you are an upstanding citizen with respect for a man's buttons aren't you? I trust that it is safe here with you. Thank you very much for not touching my favourite buttons.
